About this episode

The American Dream is officially dead, and for millions, it's become a financial nightmare. Americans are drowning in credit card debt while wages haven't kept pace, trapping the middle class in a "Renter Nation." In this powerful episode, I sit down with entrepreneur and financial freedom advocate Brian Luebben to break down the system that promised security but delivered anxiety. Brian cuts through the noise and explains why "freedom has never been further from employment. #KassidyWarren https://www.instagram.com/kassidy.warren https://www.linkedin.com/in/kassidywarren #BrianLuebben https://www.instagram.com/brianluebben/ Watch For Your Own Good on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@KassidyWarren

0:00:00Americans are drowning in credit card
0:00:01debt. Wages haven't kept up. What is it
0:00:04about today and Americans today that has
0:00:06put them in this situation?
0:00:08>> Well, the American dream is now an
0:00:09American nightmare. And now we're
0:00:10basically a renter economy in a renter
0:00:12nation where people can't even afford
0:00:14the price of rent, let alone to buy a
0:00:16home. Expenses went up, wages didn't.
0:00:18Now everybody's feeling that squeeze.
0:00:19And that's where the middle class sits.
0:00:21People are going through hell. Anybody
0:00:22that's in that tech field, no matter how
0:00:24good you are, no matter how many
0:00:25millions of dollars that you make, you
0:00:26could be gone like that tomorrow with
0:00:27one email from HR. The security that we
0:00:29signed up for is no longer there.
0:00:31Freedom has never been further from
0:00:33employment. Stop asking the question,
0:00:34"How can I make more money?" and start
0:00:36asking the question, "How can I become
0:00:37more valuable?" Everyone is a genius in
0:00:39some way, shape, or form. Now, the point
0:00:40of life is figuring out what's your
0:00:42genius. If I could give one piece of
0:00:44advice to solving the American identity
0:00:47crisis, number one, recognizing that
0:00:51you talk to everyday Americans about
0:00:54quitting their jobs on a daily basis,
0:00:56and you've helped hundreds, multiple
0:00:59hundreds of people quit their jobs in
0:01:01pursuit of their dreams. Today,
0:01:04Americans are drowning in credit card
0:01:05debt. The wages haven't kept up. People
0:01:08are getting side hustles. They're
0:01:09working harder than ever. What is it
0:01:11about today and Americans today that has
0:01:15put them in this situation?
0:01:16>> Today,
0:01:18freedom has never been further from
0:01:20employment. It used to be a point where
0:01:22everyone kind of had some remote jobs.
0:01:23We had some remote work, people working
0:01:25for bosses that they liked and they felt
0:01:27like a sense of security in corporate
0:01:30America or they felt a sense of security
0:01:31working a job. The issue today is the
0:01:34jobs that our parents had and the jobs
0:01:36and the jobs that our parents are
0:01:38pushing on us to get from anybody that's
0:01:40in college are not the same jobs that
0:01:43exist today. Before you could work a
0:01:45minimum wage job or not even a minimum
0:01:47wage job, but just like an average job,
0:01:50a decent hardworking job. You put your
0:01:5240 hours, 50 hours in, you're going to
0:01:54be able to buy a house with a picket
0:01:55fence. You're going to have a dog.
0:01:57You're going to have two kids in an
0:01:58accident, right? Like oops, we have a
0:02:00third now. And so that was the American
0:02:02dream. So it was security is what
0:02:05employment represents. The only reason
0:02:07that people are an employee versus an
0:02:10entrepreneur is security. Now what
0:02:12happens when you no longer have that
0:02:14same security in employment. That's
0:02:17where we're at today. So anybody that's
0:02:19in the tech field, no matter how good
0:02:21you are, no matter how many millions of
0:02:22dollars that you make, you could be gone
0:02:24like that tomorrow with one email from
0:02:25HR. Okay? And we're seeing it happen
0:02:27across Nvidia, across Tesla, across X,
0:02:31all across the board. Um, people are
0:02:33just getting canned left and right. And
0:02:34so it the security that we signed up for
0:02:37is no longer there, which makes
0:02:39entrepreneurship more attractive than
0:02:40ever. Now, should every single person in
0:02:43the world be an entrepreneur? And is
0:02:45everyone even capable of be being an
0:02:46entrepreneur? I do not believe so. Um,
0:02:4995% of people are better off working a
0:02:52job. But for the 5% of people that are
0:02:54listening today, hopefully we can give
0:02:55them some pieces some of advice, some
0:02:57mental frameworks, some tactical
0:02:58business practices, some investing
0:03:00principles that they can utilize to help
0:03:02them on their journey to doing what they
0:03:04want when they want with who they want.
0:03:05Because ultimately, the goal is not
0:03:07passive income for a life of ease and
0:03:10just sitting on a beach drinking
0:03:12margaritas. The goal is to go from work
0:03:14that you choose to do to doing work that
0:03:16uh doing work that you're forced to do
0:03:17to doing work that you choose to do so
0:03:19that you can actually make an impact and
0:03:21drive results. So, how did we get to the
0:03:23place where jobs were secure and now
0:03:26they're not?
0:03:27>> What happened was the US government
0:03:30printed all this money and now we have
0:03:31trillions of dollars of supply and the
0:03:33money machine goes burr and now all of a
0:03:35sudden all the prices of goods have have
0:03:37risen, housing costs have risen and now
0:03:40we're uh basically a renter economy and
0:03:42a renter nation where people can't even
0:03:43afford the price of rent, let alone to
0:03:45buy a home and wages have not increased
0:03:48with that increase. So expenses went up,
0:03:52wages didn't. Now everybody's feeling
0:03:54that squeeze, and that's where the
0:03:56middle class sits. And now they're just
0:03:58kind of throwing their hands up saying,
0:03:59"Wait, hold on a second. I was sold this
0:04:00bag of goods that if I put my head down,
0:04:03said yes sir, yes ma'am, and I worked
0:04:05really, really hard and I put 6% away in
0:04:07my 401k that one day not only would I be
0:04:10able to have a house, a wife, a husband,
0:04:13like a good comfortable life, but I
0:04:16would also be able to have a chance of
0:04:18retirement at 65 years old to where then
0:04:20I can go travel and me and my spouse can
0:04:22go do whatever we want. And just there's
0:04:25just no way that that's going to happen
0:04:26anymore. And people are feeling so far
0:04:28removed from it today. But the good news
0:04:31is we have now established enough pain
0:04:33to make a change which is why people are
0:04:35watching this or why people are
0:04:36listening to this. So the question is
0:04:38what the hell do you do now? And the
0:04:39good news is that information and access
0:04:42has never been more freely available for
0:04:44people to learn all of these different
0:04:46tactics about investing whether that be
0:04:49in real estate in the stock market um in
0:04:52in small businesses which we can talk
0:04:53about or most importantly in yourself.
0:04:56Um, for the last 10 years, the the the
0:04:59catchphrase has been passive income. I
0:05:01think that that phrase has now died. Um,
0:05:04people, especially people that are high
0:05:06performers that are making $100,000 plus
0:05:08in corporate, need to stop focusing on
0:05:10passive income and they need to start
0:05:12focusing on passive income. So, passive
0:05:15income is through business. Passive
0:05:17income is what you do after you're
0:05:18already rich. Passive income is what the
0:05:21wealthy do. This is what the rich do to
0:05:22become wealthy, not what you should do
0:05:25as a as a six-figure engineer to become
0:05:28financially free.
0:05:29>> That's right. And so I want to go back
0:05:31to the wage gap real quick because I
0:05:33believe that the wage gap and the
0:05:36stagnant wages for middle class
0:05:38Americans is the source of the division,
0:05:42the frustration, the discontent, and the
0:05:45disillusion that that you described
0:05:47because like you said, as millennials,
0:05:50we were all promised this vision, right?
0:05:52Right. And you and I are a little bit
0:05:53different than than the majority of
0:05:54America because we've we've gone and
0:05:56done things that are outside of what the
0:05:58average person has done or is willing to
0:06:00do
0:06:00>> because we felt enough pain to do it.
0:06:01>> We felt enough pain to do it. Exactly.
0:06:03And those that are listening know my
0:06:04story. It's very similar to Brian's.
0:06:06Brian has gone and done incredible
0:06:08things with Action Academy. Um but what
0:06:11do you say to the people that talk about
0:06:14pull yourself up by your bootstraps and
0:06:16do this and get a side hustle? Why has
0:06:18the American dream now become I need to
0:06:20work my full-time job and I need to get
0:06:22a side hustle and and and
0:06:24>> well the American dream is now an
0:06:25American nightmare. Um so there's two
0:06:29there's two paths we can take here that
0:06:30have diverged in the woods. Path number
0:06:33one is we can say h the government, the
0:06:37economy, my zip code, my skin color, my
0:06:42gender, I can't do it, you know, and uh
0:06:45I'm just going to give up and I'm just
0:06:47going to kind of throw my hands up in
0:06:48this one life that I've got on this
0:06:49spinning floating rock through this
0:06:50infinite universe. I'm just going to
0:06:52kind of throw my hands up and say,
0:06:54"Damn, can't do it." Or path number two
0:06:58is you say, "Screw my resources. I'm
0:07:00going to get resourceful.
0:07:02and you're going to do something about
0:07:03it. And so, one of my favorite quotes
0:07:05that people can take away like this is a
0:07:07write or downer or or a screenshot for
0:07:09people that are watching this or
0:07:11listening to this is um there's only two
0:07:13paths that you can take in your world to
0:07:15get anything that you want. Um and that
0:07:17is number one, you can increase your
0:07:18sacrifice or number two, you can reduce
0:07:20your desire.
0:07:23Increase your sacrifice or reduce your
0:07:25desire. There is power in both. I had a
0:07:28gentleman join my community and say,
0:07:31"Brian, I want to I want to buy a small
0:07:33business." And so, he paid us thousands
0:07:34of dollars to learn how to buy a small
0:07:36business. And within 10 days, he
0:07:38messaged me and he sent me an email I'm
0:07:40never going to forget. He said, "Brian,
0:07:43um, I've loved everyone I've met. I have
0:07:46loved every module I've watched. I now
0:07:49understand what it takes to be an
0:07:51entrepreneur and to do this thing. And
0:07:53I've decided that I don't want to do
0:07:54that.
0:07:56I would actually prefer to just go back
0:07:57to my engineering job at Tesla and make
0:08:01$200,000 a year. And there's never been
0:08:03a moment where I've respected someone
0:08:04more because it's either increase your
0:08:06sacrifice or reduce your desire. Um, if
0:08:09you are on year five of not having a
0:08:12six-pack and you want to have a
0:08:13six-pack, you either need to you need to
0:08:16have a hard conversation with yourself.
0:08:17And the same thing with investing is am
0:08:20I willing to do what's required to hit
0:08:22this goal or number two do I really want
0:08:25this goal? And the true answer if people
0:08:27looked at themselves in the mirror is
0:08:29number two. They actually don't want the
0:08:31goal. And if people would do an audit on
0:08:34what they say they want versus what they
0:08:35really want, they would have
0:08:37significantly more freedom because there
0:08:39is as much freedom in not wanting
0:08:41something as there is in having it.
0:08:44There's the person that doesn't want the
0:08:46mansion and doesn't want the Ferrari and
0:08:48doesn't want the $35,000 Daytona is as
0:08:52free and as happy as the person that
0:08:54worked their asses off to get it.
0:08:55>> I love this because you're absolutely
0:08:57right. And if more people It's not about
0:09:01letting go of your dreams. It's about
0:09:02either being honest with yourself,
0:09:04>> auditing your dreams. Is that your dream
0:09:06or is it the dream that you were
0:09:07programmed from society, from the news,
0:09:09from movies, from your parents, from all
0:09:11these other people
0:09:12>> to want for you?
0:09:14>> Yeah. And the other the other flip side
0:09:17of that is there's a dream that's on
0:09:19their heart that was placed there by
0:09:21somebody or by themselves. It was their
0:09:23idea, their dream. if they're auditing
0:09:25like you said and they're honest with
0:09:26yourself and they haven't yet met Brian
0:09:28Luben who can help them achieve their
0:09:29dreams because a lot of people don't
0:09:31have access or know where to go to get
0:09:33this information or know what's the
0:09:35right path for them and so they may
0:09:36never achieve those dreams but then a
0:09:38lot of people they suffer because they
0:09:41put themselves through hell trying to
0:09:43achieve something that they aren't
0:09:44really passionate about but they think
0:09:45that they wanted you know if you thought
0:09:47you would be financially free by buying
0:09:49a bunch of homes in Kansas City you're
0:09:52going to be really disappointed at the
0:09:54end of five years, 10 years when you
0:09:56don't have any money because you bought
0:09:5810 houses in Kansas City. No offense,
0:10:00right? And and so I love that you're
0:10:02saying be true to yourself. And tell me
0:10:06about the people that you talk to every
0:10:09day. So the software engineers, the
0:10:11doctors, the lawyers, the people that
0:10:12come to you. What are the different like
0:10:14stages or phases of people and like who
0:10:17do you actually say no to into Action
0:10:20Academy?
0:10:21>> Cool. So, first off, he's mentioned
0:10:22Action Academy a few times, and that's
0:10:24our that's our mastermind where we help
0:10:25people that are high performers in
0:10:27corporate go from employee to
0:10:28entrepreneur and we do that through
0:10:29ownership. So, buying small businesses
0:10:32or commercial real estate. Firstly, I
0:10:33want to address something that you just
0:10:34said, which is people are going through
0:10:36hell. Um, and I think that it would be a
0:10:38good opportunity to define what hell is.
0:10:41And for me, hell is meeting the man that
0:10:44I could have been at the end of this
0:10:47journey of life and looking at and
0:10:49seeing the version of me that I could
0:10:50have been. Meeting that person and
0:10:53saying, "Wow, there's a huge gap here
0:10:55between who I am and who you are or who
0:10:57you could have been." That is hell on
0:10:59earth
0:10:59>> for you.
0:11:00>> For me, and for anybody. I mean, another
0:11:02quote that I really love is, "I don't
0:11:03want to get to heaven well rested."
0:11:05>> Yeah. you know. Um, so to answer your
0:11:08question about who we help and which is
0:11:11a a more aggregate answer of, you know,
0:11:14who is somebody that's more uh
0:11:16predisposed or who is in a good position
0:11:18today and is closer to the goal of
0:11:21ownership, freedom, success than they
0:11:24even anticipate. Um, so the main people
0:11:27that we normally talk to, we talk to
0:11:28thousands and thousands and thousands of
0:11:30people um, that are working right now.
0:11:32And most of them are either in sales,
0:11:34um, they're engineer or they're in tech.
0:11:37So that's the normal person that we
0:11:38speak with. Um, they normally make six
0:11:41figures. They normally have $30 to
0:11:43$50,000 saved up. They have a couple of
0:11:45rental properties. They normally have an
0:11:46Airbnb or a rental property uh, that
0:11:49they house hack, something along the
0:11:50lines. and they maybe have a little bit
0:11:53of cash flow, 500 to a,000 bucks a
0:11:55month, but it's so far removed from the
0:11:57gap of where they're trying to get to,
0:11:58which is $20,000 plus to actually make a
0:12:01meaningful dent towards their freedom.
0:12:03Um, and so you have all of these people
0:12:06that are now realizing, oh, the path
0:12:08that I was sold 10 years ago on a real
0:12:10estate podcast no longer applies in
0:12:12today's market with today's interest
0:12:13rates. So, you have to pivot and you
0:12:15have to find new strategies. So, uh,
0:12:18give me somebody that's hungry. Give me
0:12:20somebody that has high agency. Agency is
0:12:23a really important word that nobody
0:12:24talks about and I would say is one of
0:12:25the single most defining characteristics
0:12:27of a successful entrepreneur is high
0:12:30agency. And agency is the distance
0:12:33between the gap of a a thought or an
0:12:36emotion and action. If you are a high
0:12:39agency person, you don't need to be
0:12:41managed. You don't need to be led. As
0:12:42soon as you have an idea, boom, gone.
0:12:45It's a high sadu ratio. It's a it's a
0:12:47low gap between action and idea and
0:12:49implementation.
0:12:50>> Can you teach high agency?
0:12:52>> You can teach it, but it's really it's
0:12:54really nurtured from something that you
0:12:56already kind of have. Um, man, the
0:12:59people that I've seen that are low
0:13:00agency,
0:13:02it's it's tough. Um, and that kind of
0:13:04goes into who we say no to. So, if we
0:13:06are talking to somebody that isn't
0:13:08already
0:13:09being the best at where their feet are,
0:13:12you most likely do not have a good shot
0:13:14at owning your own thing. Why is that?
0:13:17This is a hard conversation that people
0:13:19need to have. Um, we do this wacky crazy
0:13:21thing in the online space which is
0:13:22called let's not just serve everyone
0:13:24with a credit card and a pulse. Crazy
0:13:26idea, right? But it works. Um, and so
0:13:29how we focus on this is number one,
0:13:34if you are working a job today, are you
0:13:36the best and and are you performing at
0:13:39your highest and best capability and
0:13:40capacity in what you're doing today? If
0:13:43the answer is no, why the [ __ ] do you
0:13:45think that you could be a successful
0:13:47business owner? If you can't even be a
0:13:49successful employee, how are you going
0:13:51to have people working for you when you
0:13:53haven't even set a standard for yourself
0:13:54in the job that you're doing today?
0:13:56I wasn't the 17th person on my sales
0:14:00team of of 17 in my office. I was number
0:14:03one. I was like, dude, success is
0:14:06success is the only outcome for this.
0:14:08The only outcome for me is more income.
0:14:10I will do what's required. I won't do my
0:14:12best. I'll do what's required. And so,
0:14:15if you're not that person, like frankly,
0:14:18um, you need to reduce your desire. You
0:14:20should not be a business owner. You
0:14:21should not be an entrepreneur. should
0:14:22not be an investor because you will
0:14:24halfass that and nobody will invest with
0:14:26you. Which actually leads to the second
0:14:28point which is um if somebody is riddled
0:14:30with debt and has poor finances, um it's
0:14:33not time. You don't need to listen to
0:14:34this podcast. You actually need to turn
0:14:35this off. You need to go listen to Dave
0:14:37Ramsey. Uh Ramsay's terrible for growing
0:14:39wealth and growing riches, but he's
0:14:41really really damn good at getting you
0:14:42out of debt. So, if you have a bunch of
0:14:45debt and you have poor money management
0:14:47skills, why do you think that it's now's
0:14:49the time for you to go take on investor
0:14:51capital and for you to take on payroll
0:14:54for paying employees in business and you
0:14:57think that you're okay with doing that?
0:14:58>> It's because they're fed up with their
0:14:59current situation. They're dissatisfied,
0:15:01you know, disenfranchised. They don't
0:15:02know any way out.
0:15:03>> Cool. Well, then um be the best at where
0:15:06you're at today and then go ahead and
0:15:09become the person, act like the person,
0:15:11move like the person, talk like the
0:15:13person, dress like the person, live like
0:15:14the person that you want to become.
0:15:17That's what you got to do.
0:15:18>> No, nobody's coming to save you. That
0:15:20phrase, that phrase, even though there's
0:15:22people like you out there that have
0:15:24Action Academy and pretty much everybody
0:15:26that goes into your
0:15:27>> I'm not buying the assets for you.
0:15:28That's on you.
0:15:29>> Yes.
0:15:30>> Yeah.
0:15:30>> Yes. but acting as if you're destined to
0:15:34become. And that means actually
0:15:36embodying your future self. Like back
0:15:38when I was in corporate, there was a
0:15:40phrase it was like be your promoted
0:15:41self. Yeah.
0:15:42>> So like if you're a junior engineer and
0:15:44you want to be a senior engineer or you
0:15:45want to be a manager or director, act as
0:15:48if you are that person already. Do the
0:15:49things that that person does. Just like
0:15:51go do the things that your future self
0:15:52does. And some of the advice that I give
0:15:54to people that are coming into my
0:15:56community are
0:15:57>> like go get a promotion at work. Go
0:16:00build your skills at work, your current
0:16:02job.
0:16:02>> Being an entrepreneur before an
0:16:04entrepreneur.
0:16:04>> Exactly. Being an entrepreneur before an
0:16:06entrepreneur. Because if you go skill
0:16:07build at your current job, one, you're
0:16:09going to get better. You're going to be
0:16:10more fulfilled. And you're going to
0:16:12accelerate your ability to quit your job
0:16:13sooner. And you're going to create a
0:16:15niche and and all and and and right
0:16:17like, and you may find that you don't
0:16:19want to quit your job. You just want to
0:16:21buy a bunch of Airbnbs or whatever on
0:16:22the side and build some wealth on the
0:16:24side and still be an engineer at Tesla.
0:16:25And that's totally okay. Like, but
0:16:27that's your point of like auditing your
0:16:29dreams.
0:16:30>> So, we've mentioned the word dreams a
0:16:32few times, but 99% of people, if you
0:16:35walk up to them on the street and say,
0:16:36"What's your dream?" They have no idea.
0:16:39>> And so, to that person, I would say if
0:16:42you do not have a crystalclear vision
0:16:44for what you want your life to look
0:16:46like, like if anything was possible, you
0:16:49can wave a magic wand, what your life
0:16:50looks like. If you do not have a vision
0:16:51for that, you will every single day when
0:16:54you wake up go to work for the person
0:16:56that has a crystal clear vision for
0:16:57theirs. And so if you are not actively
0:17:01working on creating your dream life, you
0:17:05are actively working to help somebody
0:17:07else create their dream life. And that's
0:17:10going to be your manager. It's going to
0:17:11be your CEO, the shareholders of the
0:17:14company, everyone else besides you. And
0:17:16you know why? is because you just never
0:17:18took the energy and the intention to sit
0:17:20down with a freaking piece of paper and
0:17:22a pencil and write it out.
0:17:24>> Yep.
0:17:25>> And that is 100% free that anyone could
0:17:27do. I don't care if you're a janitor or
0:17:28if you're a CEO of a Fortune 500
0:17:30company. It's because people want it to
0:17:33be perfect. There's a couple reasons why
0:17:34people don't do this. They might have it
0:17:35on their heart. They might have it on
0:17:36their mind. But they don't write it
0:17:38down. Number one, they don't speak it
0:17:41out loud because then they're committing
0:17:42to something that they're afraid of or
0:17:44they want or they want it to be perfect.
0:17:46>> Yeah. Yeah.
0:17:46>> They don't do it because it's not the
0:17:48perfect dream or it's not the best
0:17:49dream. It's like move in a direction.
0:17:52Move in a direction and you will figure
0:17:54out exactly what it is that you're meant
0:17:56to be doing.
0:17:56>> Yeah. Let's talk about perfection and
0:17:58then let's talk about fear because if we
0:17:59can nail these two terms, people can
0:18:02have enough ammo and enough tools in
0:18:04their tool belt watching this and
0:18:05listening to this to actually take uh
0:18:07action on whatever they're doing,
0:18:08whether they already have a $10 million
0:18:10dollar portfolio or they have a hundred
0:18:11bucks in their pocket. Right? So, first
0:18:13off, let's talk about perfection. Um,
0:18:15perfection and progress cannot coexist.
0:18:19And what is what is progress? Progress
0:18:21is happiness.
0:18:24Sit with that for a second everybody.
0:18:26What is progress? Progress is happiness.
0:18:29Everybody is talking about what is the
0:18:32secret to happiness? Is it contentment?
0:18:33Isn't the pursuit? Is it more and more
0:18:35and more? The secret to happiness is
0:18:38progress. It's not necessarily monetary
0:18:41progress or getting richer. It's just
0:18:43every single day you're moving one step
0:18:45closer towards a goal. Whether that's
0:18:49being the best father and you're you're
0:18:51spending time and you're h taking your
0:18:53kids, you know, to school. Um if it's
0:18:56getting your 10,000 steps in, if it's
0:18:58drinking your water, if it's kissing
0:18:59your spouse, it's just like you're
0:19:01progressing one step towards your ideal
0:19:03towards your goal. So perfection and
0:19:06progress cannot coexist. Everybody has
0:19:08this idea that the person that makes 10
0:19:11times to 100 times to a thousand times
0:19:13more than them is this perfect um ideal,
0:19:17right? It's like this god amongst men.
0:19:19But I would argue that the more rooms
0:19:21that you get into,
0:19:24you can actually see, feel, and touch
0:19:25these people and you realize that they
0:19:27have no idea what the [ __ ] they're
0:19:29doing. And it gives you permission to
0:19:32say, "Got it. I don't either." And
0:19:35that's this crazy magical secret that
0:19:37now that we're now you're about to be
0:19:3940. I'm in my 30s now. And when you turn
0:19:4230 and 40, you know, all these people
0:19:43that are in their 50s and 60s talk to
0:19:45you like a peer and an equal now. They
0:19:46don't see you as just a a spoiled kid.
0:19:48And they told me the secret, Cassidy.
0:19:51And the secret is nobody knows what
0:19:52they're doing. There's no manual on how
0:19:55to be a human. There's no manual on how
0:19:57to be an entrepreneur. Everyone's
0:19:59figuring it out. So nobody's perfect.
0:20:02Nobody's even got a chance at
0:20:04perfection. And once you give yourself
0:20:05permission to not be perfect, that's
0:20:08where you can finally have progress and
0:20:10that's where you can finally have
0:20:11happiness. Now, let's take it back a
0:20:13step. We're not even talking about
0:20:14investing yet. Why do you feel you need
0:20:16to be perfect? Because as a kid, you
0:20:18probably had a parent withdraw love from
0:20:20you.
0:20:20>> Brian, I love that you're bringing this
0:20:22up.
0:20:22>> And that's why you feel a need for
0:20:24perfection. Because when you were young
0:20:26and when you were growing up, mommy or
0:20:28daddy didn't pay enough attention to you
0:20:30or both didn't. And you needed to be
0:20:33someone to get their attention and then
0:20:36their attention equal love for you
0:20:38because when you're a kid, love is
0:20:40spelled t i m e.
0:20:42>> Yeah.
0:20:42>> Top.
0:20:43>> That's right.
0:20:44>> And so for me it was my father. Dad
0:20:47wasn't around. And whenever he was like
0:20:50wasn't paying attention to me, I said,
0:20:51"Well, by God, I'm going to be as
0:20:52successful as humanly possible to make
0:20:54my success and my love undeniable." And
0:20:57so that's where this feeling for being
0:20:59perfect comes from is it was a it's a
0:21:02coping mechanism
0:21:03>> and it's a it's a control mechanism too.
0:21:05If I can control my outcome and control
0:21:07my environment, then the love will come
0:21:10or the the success will come. And and so
0:21:12for me, very similar very similar
0:21:15experience for me. And I remember the
0:21:17day in second grade that I made the
0:21:19decision that I was going to be the best
0:21:20student, get the best grades. And that
0:21:23carried with me throughout my entire
0:21:24childhood, sports, college, uh my
0:21:28career, everything, working in
0:21:29corporate. And I gave and I gave and I
0:21:31gave and that turned into perfectionism.
0:21:33But that prevented me from like being my
0:21:37authentic self and feeling okay and I
0:21:39was giving everything away. And so let
0:21:40me ask you a question. Why are dumb
0:21:42people more successful than smart
0:21:44people?
0:21:46>> Uh because they're dumb enough to
0:21:47believe in themselves. Um so here's the
0:21:49thing. Um first off, dumb and smart is
0:21:52subjective. And a lot of people that
0:21:55feel dumb, I would argue that everybody
0:21:58is a genius at something. in the US
0:22:00education system and the schooling
0:22:01system is created for the lowest common
0:22:04denominator and it's built for to fit
0:22:06everyone into these little boxes, right?
0:22:09And my favorite quote to to drive this
0:22:11point home is Albert Einstein had this
0:22:13quote where if you judge a fish by its
0:22:14ability to climb a tree, everyone will
0:22:16feel stupid.
0:22:18Everyone is a genius in some way, shape
0:22:20or form. I wholeheartedly believe that.
0:22:22Now, the point of life is figuring out
0:22:24what's your genius, right? So, but the
0:22:26answer to answer your question is um you
0:22:28know the best students, the
0:22:29valadictorians, the straight A students
0:22:31are not normally the ones that make the
0:22:33cheddar, right? They normally end up
0:22:35working for the C students. Now, why is
0:22:37that? It's because the C student um is
0:22:40not afraid to fail because they're not
0:22:42chasing perfection. Uh they they are
0:22:45just out there breaking things, moving
0:22:48fast, and and and growing. So, they're
0:22:49they're willing to take a risk. So now
0:22:52that brings us to the second point where
0:22:54I said let's talk about perfection and
0:22:55now let's talk about fear, right?
0:22:57Because what is what is failure? Are we
0:22:59actually afraid of it? No. What are we
0:23:01afraid of?
0:23:02>> Being seen.
0:23:03>> We're afraid of the appearance of
0:23:04failure.
0:23:04>> Yes.
0:23:05>> And so if you pick up a heavy weight in
0:23:07a gym, it's an analogy I love using and
0:23:09it's a visual that people can
0:23:10understand. If you go pick up a heavy
0:23:12weight in a gym and you fail and you're
0:23:14in a gym by yourself, who cares? You
0:23:16don't. You're going to go try to pick it
0:23:18up again. But if you fail in front of
0:23:19others,
0:23:21>> oh my god, how are you going to recover
0:23:22from that?
0:23:23>> The answer to the question of, you know,
0:23:25how do you overcome that is the
0:23:27realization that uh you need to get out
0:23:29of your own ego and realize that nobody
0:23:32cares.
0:23:34Nobody's watching you. Nobody really
0:23:37cares what you're doing. And that is
0:23:39wonderful. Everybody is so egocentric,
0:23:42whether consciously or subconsciously,
0:23:44that you think that everybody is
0:23:45observing every singular move that you
0:23:47make. But the reality is if I freaking
0:23:49took my pants off and ran through San
0:23:51Diego naked, everyone would be like,
0:23:53"Oh, this is a normal Tuesday." And then
0:23:55they'd be like, "That's crazy." And then
0:23:57they'd go on about their day.
0:23:58>> Yep.
0:23:59>> Nobody would care. And so when you give
0:24:01yourself permission to like, okay, cool.
0:24:05Failure is part of it. You know, if you
0:24:08reframe failure to this is what's
0:24:10necessary and like how many nos do I
0:24:12need to get and play the game of no, the
0:24:15game of no will make you millions, man.
0:24:17If you play the game of no, which is how
0:24:18many nos do I need to get to get a yes?
0:24:21And that's in, you know, investing,
0:24:23that's in business, that's in real
0:24:24estate, that's in your job, how many nos
0:24:26do I need to get to get to a yes? And I
0:24:29knew that for my sales career when I was
0:24:31still employed, I was like, man, if I
0:24:32get about 17 nos, I'm due for a yes. And
0:24:36the higher the reward, the more nos that
0:24:38you have to get. Yeah. Right. So, you're
0:24:41you're not afraid of failure. You're
0:24:42afraid of the appearance of failure. And
0:24:44now, let's talk really quickly to kind
0:24:45of land the plane here about fear. I've
0:24:48got three definitions of fear um that I'
0:24:50I've known to be true. Number one is
0:24:53false evidence appearing real,
0:24:55completely manufactured. Number two is
0:24:58uh face everything and rise. Love face
0:25:01everything and rise.
0:25:02>> Love that.
0:25:02>> Uh and then the third is [ __ ] everything
0:25:04and run.
0:25:05But let's not do that one. Let's do
0:25:07number two. Uh face everything and rise,
0:25:09man. You're like, I'm going to stare it
0:25:10at the face and I'm going to jump out of
0:25:11the airplane anyways. You know, I'm
0:25:13going to have trust here. And then
0:25:15that's that's where success is found.
0:25:17>> So when you realize and you just remove
0:25:19those two stories, if you could just
0:25:21remove two stories from yourself, which
0:25:22is number one that you have to be
0:25:24perfect and number two that other people
0:25:26care about what you're doing, the world
0:25:28is your oyster. Yep. and you see your
0:25:30life as this giant grand movie that
0:25:34you're the director of. And so a really
0:25:36great framing question for everybody
0:25:37that's watching this is, are you living
0:25:39a movie that you would actually watch?
0:25:40>> Yep.
0:25:41>> And most people are not. If you were the
0:25:43main character in a movie, is it a
0:25:45comedy? Is it a tragedy? Is it a drama?
0:25:46Is it an action movie? Like your life is
0:25:50a movie. And right now, man, a lot of
0:25:53people like that's going to get a bad
0:25:55score in Rotten Tomatoes, you know?
0:25:57>> Guaranteed.
0:25:57>> Guaranteed. It's going to flop.
0:25:59Everybody that's listening and watching
0:26:00right now, just like fast forward your
0:26:02life 5 years.
0:26:04>> Yeah.
0:26:04>> At your corporate career, are you just
0:26:07one or two promotions and like making,
0:26:10you know, 5 to 10% more than you were?
0:26:12>> Mhm.
0:26:13>> Are your kids now leaving the house and
0:26:14you haven't spent as much time with with
0:26:16them as you want? Like the the problem
0:26:19is that like the system and society and
0:26:21this fear and perfectionism, it has like
0:26:25prevented people from living their true
0:26:26purpose and their true dreams, right?
0:26:28like whatever that is like you help
0:26:30people quit their jobs. I like sort of
0:26:32same thing that I do but like really my
0:26:34deep passion is to get people the
0:26:36foundation of having ownership in
0:26:39something so that they can leverage that
0:26:41to make money so that they can go do
0:26:42whatever they want. It's not about
0:26:44becoming a full-time real estate
0:26:46investor or even becoming a full-time
0:26:48small business owner. It's about
0:26:50creating something so you can then live
0:26:52your truest purpose.
0:26:53>> Yeah. Let's get everyone rich as fast as
0:26:55humanly possible so that you can
0:26:57understand it's not the answer to
0:26:58happiness.
0:26:58>> Yeah. And
0:26:59>> happiness is a separate muscle than
0:27:00finances.
0:27:01>> What are people's money rackets around
0:27:05becoming rich, perceptions of rich
0:27:08people? Why do they not allow themselves
0:27:11to make more money? Like what have you
0:27:13encountered with all of the people that
0:27:15you work with on their money rackets?
0:27:18>> Yeah, so I mean we're talking about like
0:27:19money mindsets and and beliefs, right?
0:27:21So, um, everybody's looking for the
0:27:24strategy. Everyone's looking for the
0:27:26shiny button, like the big red button.
0:27:28What was it? The Office Depot commercial
0:27:29was the easy button. Yeah.
0:27:30>> You press the easy button, all of a
0:27:32sudden, magically everything happens for
0:27:33you.
0:27:35>> But if that were true, you wouldn't care
0:27:38>> because you didn't put any work into it.
0:27:40If you just took a gondola to the
0:27:41mountaintop, you wouldn't care versus if
0:27:43you spent 14 hours hiking, right? Um, so
0:27:46it's actually the the progress again is
0:27:48the happiness. It's not the it's not the
0:27:50end result. It's the pro it's the
0:27:51progression towards an end result.
0:27:53>> It's the journey, not the destination.
0:27:53>> It's the journey, not the destination.
0:27:55Right? The biggest thing about money is
0:27:58people people use the word money when it
0:28:01is actually the incorrect word to use.
0:28:03>> Um, so if you stop thinking about money
0:28:05and you start thinking in terms of
0:28:07value,
0:28:09everything shifts. So stop asking the
0:28:11question, how can I make more money and
0:28:12start asking the question, how can I
0:28:13become more valuable? Now everybody
0:28:16immediately leaps to what strategy can I
0:28:18use to become more valuable? But
0:28:19strategy is actually the last thing that
0:28:21you want to focus on in the very
0:28:23beginning. There's two parts to this
0:28:25formula and there's two parts to this
0:28:27equation which I call the the freaking
0:28:29uh freedom equation the freedom formula
0:28:31and that is state story and strategy. So
0:28:34and it's sequential. It's one by one.
0:28:36Number one state number two story number
0:28:38three strategy. So everyone's trying to
0:28:40focus on the strategy which is how do I
0:28:42what's the Airbnb? What's the hotel? How
0:28:44do I buy a small business? How do I
0:28:46invest in the stock market? how do I do
0:28:48online sales or like be a high ticket
0:28:50closer? All these different strategies,
0:28:51right? But you're not doing anything
0:28:53with it. So why is that? So it's because
0:28:56your state is incorrect and your stories
0:28:59that you're telling yourself are
0:29:00incorrect. So that's where all this
0:29:01money stuff comes in. So I can fix all
0:29:03your money and all your limiting beliefs
0:29:05all in just this one exercise, which is
0:29:06state, story, strategy. And I got this
0:29:08from Tony Robbins. spent $550,000
0:29:11literally over the last three years and
0:29:13finally went to one conference across
0:29:16all the coaches, all the masterminds,
0:29:17all the events, everything that I've
0:29:19done for personal development. Finally
0:29:20went to one Tony Robbins event and this
0:29:22is where I got this framework from. And
0:29:24I'm going to go ahead and preface this
0:29:26and package this with doing this
0:29:28exercise and doing this framework
0:29:30increased my business by 600%.
0:29:33In one year, 600%.
0:29:36And that wasn't going from a,000 to
0:29:386,000. That was like millions of dollars
0:29:40in my pocket
0:29:41>> y
0:29:41>> in one year. And so what is state story
0:29:44strategy? So state is how you show up in
0:29:47the world uh physically, energetically,
0:29:49and emotionally. So your state is
0:29:51arguably the most important thing that
0:29:53doesn't is completely free. You don't
0:29:55need to have any like crazy dollar signs
0:29:57to control your state. It's simply a
0:29:59decision and it's a small set of certain
0:30:02actions that you need to take to control
0:30:03your state. So your state is the
0:30:05difference between your friend who
0:30:07lights up a room who's the absolute
0:30:08power plant who's sitting like this and
0:30:10speaking like this where you have a
0:30:12degree of absolute certainty with what
0:30:14you're saying and people listen
0:30:16versus
0:30:18kind of figuring things out you know man
0:30:20like I'm not entirely sure you know life
0:30:23is you can call that person out a mile
0:30:26away if I said Cassidy I'm going to be
0:30:28successful you wouldn't believe me man
0:30:30>> and honestly you looked completely
0:30:33different. Yeah,
0:30:34>> in that moment of you shifting your
0:30:35state,
0:30:36>> you wouldn't believe you would not
0:30:37believe me. So, you don't believe you.
0:30:39And if you don't believe you and you
0:30:40don't start from a place of absolute
0:30:42certainty whenever you're taking an
0:30:43action, whenever you're moving, how the
0:30:46hell else is the world going to believe
0:30:47you? How is the universe going to
0:30:48believe you? How's God going to believe
0:30:50you? If you believe in God, I do. And
0:30:53so, your state is something that is a
0:30:55conscious decision. Now, do you need So,
0:30:57for my introverts listening, this is
0:30:59also something that you can control. You
0:31:00don't need to be this crazy bubbling uh
0:31:03extrovert that goes and does golden
0:31:05retriever energy to everyone. But it's
0:31:07it starts with getting sitting upright
0:31:10like being in a state of absolute
0:31:12certainty. You can do this through uh
0:31:14meditation. You can do this through
0:31:15going and getting a walk. You can do
0:31:17this through your posture, through your
0:31:18body language,
0:31:19>> dancing. You can play music and dance,
0:31:21shifting your energy,
0:31:22>> freaking music. Think about how you feel
0:31:24when your favorite song comes on. Or
0:31:26think about how you feel when you're at
0:31:27a concert. Being at a concert with your
0:31:30favorite artist playing and you're in
0:31:31the audience and everybody's in the same
0:31:33vibration and energy. That is called
0:31:34peak state where you are just like,
0:31:36"Man, I'm 100% aligned. I'm 100% like
0:31:40here. Like, let's freaking go." So, the
0:31:42number one thing is controlling your
0:31:44state. Because if you are stressed out,
0:31:46pissed off, sleepd deprived, and
0:31:47dehydrated, and you're slumped over a
0:31:49desk, everything, and you're just
0:31:51slaving away at trying to figure out the
0:31:53strategy on chat GPT for 6 hours, you're
0:31:56not going to figure it out because
0:31:58you're not in the correct state.
0:32:00>> So, the answer the the answer to this
0:32:02question is, how do you get in the
0:32:03proper state? For me, it's very simple.
0:32:05It's like I like to get some sunlight. I
0:32:07want to make sure that I've got some
0:32:09water. And for me, I'm getting movement.
0:32:10I have to get my heart rate up. I walked
0:32:12here to do this podcast because it got
0:32:14me moving and it gets your blood flowing
0:32:16and it gets you thinking about things.
0:32:18That's why all the greatest philosophers
0:32:19in history all took walks in the wood in
0:32:22the woods. Like Albert Einstein was
0:32:23famous for always going on walks in the
0:32:25woods. If you are stuck, get moving.
0:32:28>> Yep.
0:32:28>> It's both a metaphorical and a physical
0:32:30command.
0:32:31>> 100%.
0:32:32>> If you are stuck, get moving. Don't sit
0:32:34at your desk. Get the hell up. Get a
0:32:36water bottle. Get outside. Even if you
0:32:37just need to walk around the block, go
0:32:39start walking and thinking. Yeah, this
0:32:41is a like a personal responsibility,
0:32:42accountability like we are human beings.
0:32:44We are creatures. We are meant to move.
0:32:46We are meant to be. We are meant to be
0:32:47in community around others. And yet we
0:32:49are now sitting in our homes and our
0:32:51holes and dark corners. But our
0:32:53environment matters so much.
0:32:55>> Nothing matters more.
0:32:56>> Yeah. Nothing matters more. Think about
0:32:57people in the dark north half of the
0:33:00year like huddled up inside compared to
0:33:03people that are down south out in the
0:33:04sun all the time. And the amount of
0:33:05energy and things going on and movement
0:33:08and excitement and connection with
0:33:09people. I went to uh Trumpso in Norway.
0:33:12It's spelled T R O M S O to see the
0:33:15northern lights. And when I went up
0:33:17there, they have the midnight sun for
0:33:19half the year and the other half of the
0:33:21year they have like complete darkness.
0:33:22>> Yeah. Like 24 hours basically.
0:33:23>> Yeah. And so their bridge has these
0:33:25giant like 20 foot gates on each side
0:33:27because people would jump off of it and
0:33:28kill themselves
0:33:29>> because of the darkness. Um, so side
0:33:32tangent here, but if you are in an
0:33:36environment that you that does not fire
0:33:38you up, I don't care if you go get the
0:33:40crappiest shittiest apartment in the
0:33:42nicest area that's going to make you
0:33:43happy. I don't care if you know nobody
0:33:45that's going to be where you want to go.
0:33:47The number one singular best investment
0:33:49that you can make in your life is where
0:33:52you live
0:33:52>> 100%.
0:33:53>> It's going to control who you meet from
0:33:55dating, a dating perspective. So who
0:33:58your mother mother of your children or
0:34:00father of your children is going to be.
0:34:01It controls your job opportunities. It
0:34:03controls your happiness. It controls
0:34:05your health. Yeah.
0:34:06>> It controls everything.
0:34:07>> Yeah. What book? It's the Malcolm
0:34:08Gladwell book, Turning Point where he
0:34:10talks about essentially proximity. Bill
0:34:12Gates, you know, it was my backyard. He
0:34:15had access to the world's like first
0:34:18supercomput
0:34:19>> in Yeah. in his school
0:34:20>> and look what happened, right? Like and
0:34:22then and then there's other stories in
0:34:23that book, but proximity is power. And
0:34:25so I live in a town that uh it's called
0:34:27Kirkland. And everyone knows I talk
0:34:29about I'm a huge fan of that city
0:34:30because I was very intentional about
0:34:32living there because of the fulfillment
0:34:34and happiness I get being on the lake,
0:34:36being able to paddle board all the time,
0:34:37being next to Google, all the people
0:34:39there, the connections, the amount of
0:34:41money that's in that city versus like I
0:34:44don't know in Austin where you're from,
0:34:45like where you would like I'm never
0:34:47going to live over there because that's
0:34:48not my environment. But
0:34:49>> I love it. Yeah. When I moved to Austin,
0:34:51my entire life changed. No, I mean
0:34:52outside of Austin, like if there's
0:34:53another outside of Austin where you
0:34:54wouldn't want to live.
0:34:55>> Correct. Yeah.
0:34:56>> Yeah. But I mean that that's a tangent
0:34:58to go back to state. So your state
0:34:59controls your fate, right? So number one
0:35:01thing, if you feel stuck right now, you
0:35:02need to get up. You need to get moving.
0:35:04If you are stuck, get in motion
0:35:05physically. Number two is the stories
0:35:07that we tell ourselves. So this is where
0:35:0980% of the hangup is right here. It's
0:35:11not in the strategies and the freaking
0:35:12stories that you're telling yourself.
0:35:14Um, and the stories that you tell
0:35:16yourself are these are the the like,
0:35:18dude, if somebody came up to us, we all
0:35:21scream at the media and scream at all
0:35:23these people for being liars or being,
0:35:24you know, fake news, right? But none of
0:35:26us look in the mirror and think about
0:35:28all the freaking fake news and the seven
0:35:29inches between our freaking ears. Like
0:35:32everyone is telling themselves these
0:35:34stories and you will always find
0:35:35evidence for what you choose to believe.
0:35:38And so if you choose to believe that you
0:35:40can do something versus can't do
0:35:42something, you're right both times and
0:35:44you will find evidence to support both
0:35:45claims. Right? So stories that you tell
0:35:48yourself are 10 times out of 10 the
0:35:51reason that you're not doing the things.
0:35:53Um and so I'll give you a couple of
0:35:54examples. For me, uh I had a six-figure
0:35:57business that I took to seven figure
0:35:58business from the singular story shift
0:36:01of nobody can do sales besides me.
0:36:04>> Nobody can do it better than me. So
0:36:06therefore, I did everything myself. I
0:36:08couldn't hire sales reps. Easy strategy,
0:36:10hire sales reps. Do interviews, post a
0:36:13job ad, do interviews, onboard them,
0:36:16train them, hire a sales rep. Um, I had
0:36:19a story I was telling myself, right? I
0:36:20had a story I was telling myself about
0:36:22the month of September in our business
0:36:24where I said, "Okay, well, September is
0:36:25just a bad month. Last September, I
0:36:27almost didn't make payroll in our
0:36:28business. Um, I didn't pay myself
0:36:31because we our revenue dropped 40%." And
0:36:33I said, "Well, everybody's coming home
0:36:35from everyone's got school. Everyone's
0:36:37getting ready for the holidays. Like,
0:36:39it's just a bad month for my business."
0:36:41Um, this September, I completely changed
0:36:43my frame, my state. I changed my story
0:36:45and I said, "No matter what, there's no
0:36:47other option. I'm showing up every
0:36:48single day to put 300 sales calls on
0:36:51this calendar, and we're going to have a
0:36:52record- setting month." And Cassidy, we
0:36:54had a 400% increase this month. And we
0:36:59set the record for our company this
0:37:01month in September. We're recording this
0:37:02oc October 1st.
0:37:03>> And so the point there is that you
0:37:06change your state
0:37:07>> and you changed my story.
0:37:09>> I changed the story. So
0:37:10>> and the and and surprisingly the out not
0:37:12surprisingly the outcome changed.
0:37:14>> Correct.
0:37:14>> And then all of a sudden I found the
0:37:16strategy. The strategy was simple. And
0:37:17the strategy was do a webinar, hire a
0:37:20sales team.
0:37:22Is that rocket science? No. Um so same
0:37:25thing. So now we're going back to money.
0:37:29And so are we gonna sit here and talk
0:37:30about the strategy of money? We can, but
0:37:32people are just going to listen to this
0:37:34and go turn on another podcast. So, but
0:37:36now they have these tool two tools they
0:37:37could put in their tool belt of state
0:37:39and story. They could control their
0:37:40state immediately because your state
0:37:42controls your fate and your stories that
0:37:44you tell yourself here. Here's a crazy
0:37:46crazy thought that makes a lot of sense
0:37:48when you hear it logically, but it just
0:37:50takes some time to digest. If you have
0:37:53not actively considered the stories that
0:37:55you are telling yourself, they were
0:37:58never yours to begin with.
0:38:00>> So you are clinging so hard onto stories
0:38:04that never even were yours to begin
0:38:05with. A good visual representation of
0:38:07this is think of yourself like a
0:38:09computer to your point like a computer
0:38:10has like hardware software. So the
0:38:12hardware is the actual plastic shell
0:38:14casing of the computer. The software is
0:38:15the operating system that you run off of
0:38:17it. So if you have not actively and
0:38:19intentionally updated your operating
0:38:21system, which is how you think about
0:38:22things and see the world as an adult,
0:38:25you're running of an operating system
0:38:26that was placed back in the early 2000s
0:38:28or the 90s or the 80s or the 70s,
0:38:30however old you are, from your parents
0:38:33and from your school teachers and from
0:38:35your kindergarten class. So it's crazy
0:38:38when you think about it like that.
0:38:39You're like, "Oh [ __ ] it's time to
0:38:40update my operating system." So yeah, we
0:38:42all have all these stories, man. So we
0:38:44have these stories of number one, back
0:38:46to perfection. And if I'm not perfect, I
0:38:48can't be loved. Um if I fail, I cannot
0:38:51be loved.
0:38:51>> If I fail, that's it. Everything falls
0:38:53apart.
0:38:53>> Yeah. Fail. If I fail, everything's
0:38:55going to crumble down. Um like, oh,
0:38:58that's for other people, not for me. You
0:39:00know, you have your financial
0:39:01thermostat, which is you're the sum, you
0:39:03make the sum of the five people that you
0:39:05spend the most time with,
0:39:07>> you know, and so you're if you take all
0:39:09of their incomes, you add them up,
0:39:10you're always going to be the average of
0:39:11the five.
0:39:12>> So that's another big one is, oh, this
0:39:14is how much we make. you know, we're not
0:39:16rich people.
0:39:17>> Yep.
0:39:17>> You know, we don't have the same access.
0:39:19We don't have the same opportunities. We
0:39:21don't have the same whatever. And so,
0:39:22these are all stories that we tell
0:39:23ourselves of why we can and why we can't
0:39:25do things. And for me, the single
0:39:27biggest shift in me, anybody that meets
0:39:30me knows that I move with such intense
0:39:33degrees of certainty that I know
0:39:35billionaires and hundred millionaires to
0:39:37say, "Yeah, you've got you're next.
0:39:39You'll figure it out."
0:39:40>> Yep. The strategy, the strategy is the
0:39:42most commonly and readily available
0:39:45component of all of this.
0:39:47>> But you take committed urgent action
0:39:50every single day, every single moment
0:39:52>> because that is how I choose to show up
0:39:54every day. It's a muscle. It's not like
0:39:56a light switch. Every single day like
0:39:58you brush your teeth, you drink your
0:40:00water, you eat food, you drink you like
0:40:03the same thing as I am choosing to move
0:40:05with absolute certainty today.
0:40:06>> Say that again. Say the first part
0:40:07again.
0:40:08>> What do you mean? No, because you're
0:40:10there's a very important word that you
0:40:12said in that sentence.
0:40:13>> Choose.
0:40:13>> That's right. You're choosing to do it.
0:40:16And what people fail to realize is that
0:40:18whatever you are not choosing, it's
0:40:21being chosen for you. But you have the
0:40:23power to choose what you do every single
0:40:26day. And how you show up in your state,
0:40:28how you act, all that. One more question
0:40:29on this.
0:40:32Do introverts exist?
0:40:35>> I mean, yeah. But look, riddle me this.
0:40:40Get an extrovert. Get an introvert and
0:40:43put them in a room with somebody that
0:40:45has similar really niche interest to
0:40:47them and they are going to be the most
0:40:49talkative like yapper that ever existed.
0:40:52Right.
0:40:52>> That's right.
0:40:53>> Introverts are more selective with who
0:40:54they give energy and spend energy on.
0:40:59>> But I think that labels are a dangerous
0:41:01thing to put. Labels are a dangerous
0:41:03thing to place. And so all of us have
0:41:06different modes and different zones,
0:41:07right? And we have different natural
0:41:09tendencies. So sometimes it's more of a
0:41:11muscle that's trained than other times.
0:41:13But I know sales reps that are
0:41:15introverts that are top sales reps
0:41:17because they just think about things and
0:41:19they move differently and they have to
0:41:20activate differently. Bill Gates was an
0:41:22introvert. I was reading his
0:41:23autobiography. Um it's called source
0:41:25code and he talked about the ability of
0:41:28sitting down in front of a computer and
0:41:30not not saying a word for six days. He's
0:41:33just getting his food and just sitting
0:41:35down and working. So, I mean, it's a
0:41:37superpower, dude. Everyone has a
0:41:39superpower.
0:41:40>> We were talking last night
0:41:43about ownership.
0:41:44>> Mhm.
0:41:45>> Why is the decline in ownership hurting
0:41:49American security and patriotism?
0:41:51>> If I could give one piece of advice as a
0:41:54random guy on the internet to solving
0:41:56the American identity crisis, right? So,
0:42:00you know, because there's nothing more
0:42:01important than number one recognizing
0:42:04that America is the greatest country on
0:42:06earth and we are all blessed and lucky
0:42:08to be here, especially in the freaking
0:42:10year of our Lord 2025 and onwards. Like,
0:42:14this is the year that there's so much
0:42:17opportunity, there's so much momentum
0:42:19moving forward. Yes, we all have
0:42:21problems. Every country in the universe
0:42:23has problems. Every country on earth has
0:42:25problems. But the one of the biggest
0:42:27problems that I see in America today is
0:42:30uh the fact that we are moving towards a
0:42:32renter society, not an owner society.
0:42:34And I think that if we could just solve
0:42:36this one problem, everyone would at the
0:42:39same time become significantly more
0:42:42patriotic. And so what I mean by this is
0:42:45when you have a giant generation of
0:42:48people that do not own the land that
0:42:50they live on, how do you feel like an
0:42:53American? So before it was, okay, this
0:42:57is my land. This is my backyard. This is
0:42:59my front yard. This is my house. I'm
0:43:01going to protect it. This is where my
0:43:02kids live. This is where my family
0:43:04lives, right? I own this. I own a piece
0:43:06of America and I'm going to do what I
0:43:08need to do to defend this. And that
0:43:10means going to war. It means working my
0:43:12ass off in my job. It means providing
0:43:13for my family. Like, that's what I'm
0:43:15going to get up and do. But when you're
0:43:17renting a an overpriced apartment with
0:43:21the same color of eggshell white paint
0:43:24that some random corporate landlord is
0:43:27trying to raise rent on you for when
0:43:29your income hasn't increased, how the
0:43:32hell do you feel obligated to defend the
0:43:34land that your freaking plot is on? So,
0:43:37there's nothing more important in
0:43:39America today than making sure that home
0:43:41ownership is a available and affordable
0:43:43to every single person. Every single
0:43:45person should have a home to live in.
0:43:46Now, does that mean every person
0:43:48deserves a freaking mansion? No, that's
0:43:49by merit. But every single person
0:43:51deserves a home to live in. And so, I
0:43:53think if I mean, number one, that starts
0:43:55bureaucratically. Like, it's not the
0:43:57landlords. There's thousands of people
0:44:00in real estate that are actively trying
0:44:02to solve this problem. It's the
0:44:05bureaucratic and the government that is
0:44:07the issue. It's the zoning. It's the
0:44:09permitting. It's the local and city
0:44:11governments. It's the county governments
0:44:12that are not allowing this to happen.
0:44:14So, if it starts with government first
0:44:16at a local level, then the permitting
0:44:19process is easy and the building
0:44:21materials can come down, then all of a
0:44:24sudden everybody's got houses to live
0:44:25in. It's possible. It just takes
0:44:28intention.
0:44:29How does that affect the economy,
0:44:31though? Because if there's if there's
0:44:32not enough homes, desirable homes like
0:44:35in Austin, right? If there's not enough
0:44:37desirable, affordable homes because the
0:44:39demand is so high in Austin and in
0:44:41Seattle and in San Diego, like are they
0:44:44just building homes outside of the city,
0:44:46but nobody wants to live there or how
0:44:48does that work? I mean, yeah. I mean,
0:44:50you can't all live in the city. I spent
0:44:52freaking four years of my life living in
0:44:54a house hack in the basement of my
0:44:55property 45 minutes outside of Atlanta,
0:44:57Georgia. Not everyone can afford to live
0:44:59in the middle of the city, but I still
0:45:00had a nice house. It was a five-bedroom
0:45:03house that I rented the other bedrooms
0:45:04out to, you know? So, I mean, beggars
0:45:06can't be choosers in this context,
0:45:08right? So, I mean, when it comes to when
0:45:11it comes to home prices, like even as
0:45:12somebody that now is financially free,
0:45:14like I'm I'm in the top 0.00001%
0:45:18of income in the world, let alone
0:45:19America now, and I'm still renting
0:45:22because I still can't afford to buy
0:45:24because if I were to buy right now, I'd
0:45:26pay four times more than what I pay for
0:45:28rent.
0:45:28>> Mhm.
0:45:29>> So, if I'm renting, everyone's renting
0:45:32and it's just a massive problem. I'm
0:45:34renting. Yeah. For that same reason.
0:45:36>> We're all renting, man. We're all
0:45:38renting. And so, you know, but to to the
0:45:41credit of the podcast, it's like there's
0:45:44nothing that you and I can do about that
0:45:45today. So, I mean, right now, it's
0:45:47something that hopefully is done by
0:45:49somebody else, but from the from the
0:45:52perspective of locus of control, like
0:45:54what can we do on this podcast today to
0:45:56actually give somebody something to take
0:45:57away? We're not going to change the
0:45:59local government. So maybe we can move
0:46:01into some strategies and some stuff that
0:46:03they could do even if they are renting
0:46:04to be able to make something of
0:46:05themselves.
0:46:06>> Well, and and the flip side of of that
0:46:08to create ownership through renting.
0:46:09This is what I tell people is don't buy
0:46:12your your home to live in as your first
0:46:15property. Go rent or go do what you did
0:46:18and buy and live in the basement or the
0:46:20spare bedroom or whatever and go use
0:46:22that money to go buy an investment
0:46:23property. Because if you do that, if you
0:46:26buy your primary today, you were
0:46:28probably setting yourself behind like
0:46:30four or five years actually with the
0:46:31amount of cash that you had to put down.
0:46:33It's a liability. It's not making you
0:46:34any money, right? So, you're setting
0:46:35yourself behind versus if you took that
0:46:37same money and bought an investment
0:46:39property, whatever it is, whether it's
0:46:41an RV park or short-term rental or
0:46:42whatever. Now, you're generating income
0:46:45and equity and tax benefits. So, your
0:46:47ability to then go buy your dream home
0:46:50actually accelerates if that's what you
0:46:51want to go do. But you're still owning.
0:46:54You're still owning.
0:46:54>> Every everybody starts with the idea of
0:46:56dream home. And you know, I'm six years
0:46:58into investing. I'm still not buying my
0:47:00dream home. Nope. Me neither.
0:47:01>> I'm still pushing it off because I want
0:47:03my I want my passive income. I want my
0:47:05investments to pay for my dreams. I
0:47:08don't want to use my active income to
0:47:10pay for my dreams. I want my passive
0:47:11income to pay for my dreams. So, here's
0:47:13my other thing in the financial freedom
0:47:14community that pisses me off and why I
0:47:16don't like a lot of them. um is that
0:47:18they're all so like frugal, frugal,
0:47:20scrape a nickel, like don't don't have
0:47:22fun. Uh I think that's stupid. I love
0:47:25spending money, dude. I'm great at it.
0:47:27I'm great at spending money.
0:47:28>> You're one of the best, Brian.
0:47:29>> I'm great at spending money.
0:47:30>> It's something I love about you. I
0:47:31really appreciate it.
0:47:31>> Secret. It's a secret talent of mine.
0:47:33One of my biggest problems with real
0:47:36estate actually is that it's it is sort
0:47:39of more of a scarce mindset community
0:47:42because of the passive income mindset
0:47:44and like oh I got to put my down payment
0:47:46and I got to reduce expenses. I can't
0:47:48afford to hire people because my my
0:47:50returns will you know decrease or
0:47:53there's not a lot of what I would say
0:47:54abundance in real estate because it it's
0:47:57like you're trying to cut every penny to
0:47:59make the cash flow work and make the
0:48:00property work, right? versus someone
0:48:03like you who has said, "My time and my
0:48:06effort is more worth me building my
0:48:09business and growing my business and
0:48:10hiring people." That's actually an
0:48:12abundant mindset versus, "Oh, I'm just
0:48:15going to go save taxes by buying a
0:48:16short-term rental."
0:48:17>> And that's the reason that I do not get
0:48:19along with most of the financial freedom
0:48:20communities because they want to save
0:48:22and scrimp and rub two nickels together.
0:48:24And the the issue is that they are
0:48:27focused on gaining freedom through
0:48:30investing.
0:48:31Investing is what you do later when you
0:48:34already have the income. If you do not
0:48:36yet have passive income, you should not
0:48:38focus on passive income. Massive income
0:48:41first, which is how can I generate more
0:48:43and more and more and more income? And
0:48:46people are trying to do it the low and
0:48:47slow way, which is, oh, I'm going to buy
0:48:49rental properties. I'm going to buy an
0:48:50Airbnb. I'm going to go do this other
0:48:52stuff. I'm like, no. Like number one,
0:48:54like how can you increase the income in
0:48:56the job that you're at today? So how can
0:48:57you be where your feet are? Number two,
0:48:59how can you have a side hustle on the
0:49:00side? Because between five nine toive is
0:49:02where you make a living. Between five to
0:49:03nine is where you make a life. How do
0:49:05you have a side hustle on the side that
0:49:06you can increase your income from?
0:49:08That's how I was able to leave
0:49:09corporate. I didn't purely passive
0:49:11income my way out. I was able to build
0:49:12businesses on the side while I was still
0:49:14working. That allowed me to have the
0:49:16cash flow necessary to leave. Right? And
0:49:19then number three is, you know, how do
0:49:20you build and buy companies of your own?
0:49:22And so I think that, you know, buying a
0:49:24company is significantly easier than
0:49:26building a company because I built four,
0:49:28bought four. But, you know, for me, I'm
0:49:30like, instead of focusing on how do I
0:49:32get $200 or $500 a month in passive
0:49:34income from buying this asset, that's a
0:49:36lot of work. Like, why don't you just
0:49:38focus on how do I increase my income by
0:49:40500 to a,000 bucks a month? That's
0:49:42significantly easier. And so, again,
0:49:45like passive income before passive
0:49:47income. So, now I made my income massive
0:49:50by focusing on building and buying
0:49:51businesses. is I buy cash flow and I
0:49:53only think about cash flow and now I
0:49:56convert that to equity which then gives
0:49:59me dividends and yield and that's my
0:50:01passive income. So my active income is
0:50:05about 10 times my passive income that
0:50:07I've built. So my active income this
0:50:10year will be over 2 million and my
0:50:11passive is about a quarter.
0:50:13>> Yeah.
0:50:13>> And that's after three years. Three
0:50:15years ago I was walking around aimless
0:50:17lost in freaking Brazil. No idea what I
0:50:20was doing. Three years is what it took
0:50:23to build this.
0:50:24>> It's been wild to watch your journey
0:50:26because you've gone through all the
0:50:28phases of entrepreneurship too. Like
0:50:30everything you sort of describe, you've
0:50:31you know passive income, quit your job,
0:50:33sort of figured out that real estate
0:50:34wasn't fast enough.
0:50:35>> I thought it was the answer.
0:50:36>> Yeah. I thought it was the answer too.
0:50:37Yeah.
0:50:37>> And then now what what I've really
0:50:39realized one it is an answer to get you
0:50:41out of that first step, right? Create a
0:50:44foundation of security almost that you
0:50:46can then go leverage to go do whatever
0:50:48you want. But the real wealth is
0:50:49generated in becoming an entrepreneur, a
0:50:52leader, a business owner. And you did
0:50:54it. You were solarpreneur. You had a
0:50:55couple people. And I remember you were
0:50:57like really frustrated, struggling at
0:50:59certain points. And then now this that
0:51:00was like a year ago. And then now you're
0:51:02sitting here talking about what an eight
0:51:04figureure business that you're creating.
0:51:05I can see that you're more fulfilled.
0:51:07You called in your your girlfriend who
0:51:09you've been calling in for years now,
0:51:11right? And you're sharing and helping
0:51:13and supporting people more than I've
0:51:14ever seen. You know, there's this Brian
0:51:16Luben and I talked to you about this. I
0:51:17remember I talked to you about this.
0:51:18There's this Brian Luben years ago.
0:51:20You've always been here, but it was like
0:51:22it's not that you were self-centered,
0:51:23but that's almost I think how people see
0:51:25you or saw you. And now the Brian that I
0:51:27see today is someone who is truly giving
0:51:29back, truly connecting, and is also
0:51:31unapologetic in who he is. And I [ __ ]
0:51:33love that.
0:51:34>> Yeah. I had to be self-centered because
0:51:36you have to have a sheer force of will.
0:51:38Yeah. to like build something to force
0:51:40something from scratch for somebody to
0:51:42if you want to know here dude here's a
0:51:44good rule of thumb to determine if
0:51:46you're capable of building a business
0:51:47from scratch if you have to ask if
0:51:50you're capable of building a business
0:51:51from scratch you're not capable of
0:51:53building a business from scratch you
0:51:54don't have it
0:51:56>> um if you are just delusional enough to
0:51:57be like I'mma figure this [ __ ] out come
0:51:59hell or high water give me a brick wall
0:52:01I'm going bust through it like that's a
0:52:03person that's going to build a business
0:52:04and that's what it took and dude if you
0:52:06want to we can we can pivot talking
0:52:08about dating because I actually think
0:52:09that that now that that's a part of my
0:52:11life and I haven't ever spoken about it
0:52:13on podcast for three years because I've
0:52:14been single looking for my person. Um I
0:52:17wasn't capable of being in a
0:52:19relationship prior because my entire
0:52:21life energy and focus was on my
0:52:23business. I had to have that singular
0:52:25focus. I had to have a sacrifice. I had
0:52:28to had a rocky cut scene of two years to
0:52:31be able to build the life that I have
0:52:32today which is a life of ownership not
0:52:35operation. Most people are business
0:52:37operators. They're not business owners.
0:52:39And you have to pay the tax to
0:52:40understand that. I had enough pain that
0:52:43got me out of it. I was losing my hair.
0:52:45This is $4,000 for Mexico City right
0:52:48now. I lost my hair. I had a freaking
0:52:50gut. I was stressed out of my freaking
0:52:52gourd running my business for the first
0:52:54two years. And most people are spending
0:52:5520 years doing that. Yeah.
0:52:56>> Because they don't understand what the
0:52:58other side looks like. And so, dude, now
0:53:00I'm on the other side to where as we're
0:53:03sitting here, like I think I've done
0:53:05like 30 $40,000 today.
0:53:07>> As we're as we're as I walked up here, I
0:53:09ate a sandwich. I had a couple of
0:53:12meetings, Zoom calls with my team, and
0:53:13now I'm doing this podcast with you. And
0:53:16my business is operating without me. My
0:53:17Northern Lights tour company is doing
0:53:19tours without me. My hood cleaning
0:53:21companies are cleaning kitchen hoods in
0:53:23Kansas City without me. My freaking gym
0:53:25is being built in Nashville, Tennessee.
0:53:27and my hotel is being graded right now
0:53:29in South Florida. And all of this is
0:53:31happening independent of me while I sit
0:53:33here as a business owner that has
0:53:35systems, processes, profits, and people
0:53:38that are yielding the passivity for me
0:53:40today.
0:53:40>> And I think let me just speak on why I
0:53:42think you've been so successful that is
0:53:44different than a lot of the other gurus
0:53:47or people on the internet because you're
0:53:49not just a person on internet. built a
0:53:51business centered around generating
0:53:53massive amounts of value for the people
0:53:56that enter your world.
0:53:57>> Anyone that is in your sphere and enters
0:53:59your world will become financially free
0:54:01if they do what you say, if they use the
0:54:04tools, if they use the resources. You
0:54:06create so much value in your life and in
0:54:09your people that it was inevitable as
0:54:12long as you decided to take that next
0:54:14step in the level of leadership and be
0:54:16able to delegate and hire and do
0:54:18everything that you needed to do. It was
0:54:19inevitable that you were going to get to
0:54:21this point and even further. Yeah. It's
0:54:24about having a vision large enough for
0:54:26other people's visions to fit with 100%.
0:54:28You cannot have a millionaire mentor if
0:54:30you have $100 goals. Like you must
0:54:33increase your goals. must increase your
0:54:35vision because right now I have higher
0:54:37and higher and higher level people that
0:54:39work for me and with and with me and so
0:54:41my vision has to be large enough for all
0:54:43their visions to fit with it you know
0:54:45and it's just like the craziest thing is
0:54:47again we go back to stories that we were
0:54:48telling ourselves my state was terrible
0:54:50for two years I was stressed out pissed
0:54:52off your IQ physically drops when you're
0:54:55stressed out and sleepd deprived and so
0:54:57for two years I was living like that and
0:54:59I was telling myself these stories of
0:55:01nobody can do it better than me this is
0:55:02what's required and I just didn't know
0:55:04any better, you know, and now I know
0:55:06better, which if you want to, we can
0:55:08talk about after $545,000
0:55:11of investment and three years of
0:55:13figuring this crap out, I created a
0:55:15system and a formula for people to
0:55:17actually go through that will yield them
0:55:19the passivity because everyone's talking
0:55:21about, oh, go buy a business, go buy a
0:55:23hotel, go buy an Airbnb. If you're ready
0:55:25to talk strategy, let's talk strategy.
0:55:26>> Let's do it. Yeah, let's do it. Because
0:55:28you are hating on Airbnbs now. I see it.
0:55:31And I still love it for certain people.
0:55:33Airbnbs are fine.
0:55:34>> No, it's fine.
0:55:35>> Airbnbs are fine. Everything is fine.
0:55:37It's really hard to scale Airbnbs.
0:55:39>> It is. It's hard to scale Airbnbs. It
0:55:40gets you out of your corporate job. It
0:55:41helps you save on time. There's a lot of
0:55:42benefits to it. But you are focusing on
0:55:45cash flowing businesses.
0:55:47>> Tell me.
0:55:47>> Yeah, but this still applies. Look,
0:55:49here's the cool part. You want to You
0:55:50want to hear something real cool,
0:55:51Cassidy?
0:55:52>> If you want to buy an Airbnb, this
0:55:54works, too. If you want to buy a multif
0:55:56family, this works. If you want to buy
0:55:57self- storage, this works. If you want
0:55:59to buy service and deployment company,
0:56:00this works. This is the process that
0:56:02nobody talks about. I created this and
0:56:05this is going to make people billions of
0:56:08dollars because you were sold a lie
0:56:12which is that acquisition alone will get
0:56:14you freedom.
0:56:15>> Acquisition alone of buying the assets
0:56:18will get you freedom. Every guru with a
0:56:20course, every person with the podcast,
0:56:22every person with the freaking camera on
0:56:24Instagram is telling you go how to buy
0:56:26multif family, how to buy Airbnbs, how
0:56:28to buy all this stuff. Anybody that's an
0:56:30operator in the space will tell you that
0:56:33the buy is just like, "Congratulations.
0:56:37You're now choosing to hike up the
0:56:39mountain.
0:56:40>> This is not the mountain top.
0:56:42>> You just decided to start hiking. You
0:56:45got out of the car. Congrats. You got a
0:56:46granola bar with you. So, there's three
0:56:49parts to freedom that people don't
0:56:50understand. And acquisition is only the
0:56:52first part. And we're talking
0:56:54specifically about acquisition
0:56:55entrepreneurship here. Uh so it's
0:56:58acquisition acclamation architecture and
0:57:00this is the most important thing that
0:57:02maybe I'll create in my life you know
0:57:04before my children acquisition
0:57:06acclamation architecture because what
0:57:08was happening
0:57:10hand on hand to god us too in the
0:57:13beginning we thought that acquisition
0:57:15was the answer I was like if I help
0:57:17people buy millions of dollars of assets
0:57:19they will become financially free and
0:57:20live the lives that they decide to live
0:57:22and we did over $300 million of
0:57:24acquisition we've done half a billion of
0:57:26acquisition now in action academy and
0:57:28people still weren't free and so that's
0:57:31where the next two parts of this
0:57:32equation came from because I started
0:57:33asking the question well what's wrong
0:57:35why am I free and they are and they're
0:57:37not so acclamation acquisition is owner
0:57:40taking ownership of the asset that
0:57:42produces you money acclamation is how do
0:57:45I physically emotionally and mentally
0:57:49now switch from the hat of employee to
0:57:52the hat of entrepreneur to the hat of
0:57:54business owner like how do I not only
0:57:57emotionally and mentally,
0:57:59you know, acclimate to this new reality,
0:58:01but now what is the what's the tactical
0:58:04acclamation process? Like how do I go
0:58:06manage people now and lead people and
0:58:09how do I how do I do this transition
0:58:10period where this previous owner has now
0:58:12given it to me and now I have to
0:58:14stabilize the asset in commercial real
0:58:16estate in an Airbnb, right? M uh
0:58:19architecture is the process of now
0:58:21building all of the systems, building
0:58:23the team, building the org chart and the
0:58:24processes whereby a result gets
0:58:27accomplished without you and the
0:58:28business drivers get accomplished
0:58:29without you. So nobody's talking about
0:58:31acclamation and architecture. They're
0:58:33just throwing people to the wolves and
0:58:34saying, "Okay, go buy this boutique
0:58:36hotel. Go buy this multif family
0:58:38property. Go buy this small business."
0:58:39Again, guilty. I didn't know any better.
0:58:41And but nobody else is doing anything to
0:58:43fix it. So I'm sure as hell leading the
0:58:44charge now. So, say a hotel for
0:58:47instance. I'm building a $14 million
0:58:49hotel in South Florida right now. If we
0:58:51just build the hotel and put it live, is
0:58:53that going to make me financially free?
0:58:54No. It's how you manage the hotel. So,
0:58:57how does that hotel run without me being
0:59:00involved in being in Florida? How do the
0:59:02systems, how do the processes work,
0:59:04right? So if people realize that that's
0:59:0799% of the game and acquisition is the
0:59:09first 1% then that's when we can start
0:59:12actually getting people the freedom that
0:59:13they deserve and that they want. It's
0:59:16just they think that just the purchase
0:59:17is going to be enough. It's it's not.
0:59:20And so that's why I'm so excited to
0:59:22begin this journey and get this free
0:59:23freedom framework out in front of people
0:59:25because now they can start to have a
0:59:26freaking road map and they can say,
0:59:28"Okay, I got it." Like the way that I
0:59:31view it is um have you ever been on a
0:59:33plane where they have like crazy
0:59:34turbulence?
0:59:35>> Yeah.
0:59:35>> But the pilot doesn't say anything about
0:59:37it like freaking douchebags just sitting
0:59:39up front not talking. Right. And you're
0:59:40like you're like I'm going to die.
0:59:43Versus if the pilot says, "Hey, you
0:59:46know, Captain Pete's speaking. Uh in the
0:59:48next 10 minutes, we're going to
0:59:50experience a little bit of rough air.
0:59:51Small patch, small pocket. It'll be
0:59:53fine. We're not going to fall out of the
0:59:54sky. Everyone's going to be okay. I'm
0:59:55gonna put the fasten seat belt sign
0:59:57right on real quick. and we're going to
0:59:58get through it nice and smooth.
1:00:00Everyone's going to be okay. And then as
1:00:01soon as you feel the same turbulence,
1:00:03then you're like, "Oh, okay. This was
1:00:05this wasn't too bad." And so these are
1:00:07the turbulence points, acquisition,
1:00:09acclamation, architecture, so people can
1:00:11know that it's coming and therefore not
1:00:14only get in the game, but stay in the
1:00:15game.
1:00:16>> Yeah. And I think hospitality is a great
1:00:18example of that because we've all been
1:00:19at hotels that are terribly run. And the
1:00:22the owners may still be making money,
1:00:23but they're not like
1:00:25>> those are the ones that we're buying,
1:00:26too. Those are the ones that we're
1:00:26buying because they got into it. So many
1:00:28hotels that we look at, they're like,
1:00:29"Oh yeah,
1:00:30>> mom and pop owner,
1:00:31>> we we bought it and we actually don't
1:00:32know how to run hotels, right?" Yeah.
1:00:34And and so that's why people like you
1:00:36that are doing this are so important.
1:00:37And
1:00:38>> you know, you put this framework
1:00:39together, but it's also can be very
1:00:40simple, right? Like it it could be very
1:00:42simple. How do you manage a housekeeper?
1:00:44How do you manage a people? How do you
1:00:45talk to people? Like how do you also
1:00:47scale up? Because that's what you could
1:00:49that's what you're talking about too is
1:00:50like if I'm gonna buy one Airbnb or one
1:00:53hotel, the freedom and the value
1:00:56actually come from once you start
1:00:57plugging additional acquisitions into
1:01:00the system that you just created.
1:01:02>> Because if you can do the same,
1:01:03>> how do you build an acquisition team
1:01:04that finds and sources and negotiates
1:01:06deals and funds deals on your behalf?
1:01:08>> That's right. Yeah. And something that I
1:01:09love that you've done inside of Action
1:01:10Academy is you've and you're continuing
1:01:12to build onto this is you've essentially
1:01:13created an economy.
1:01:14>> Yep. a self-fulfilling economy inside so
1:01:17that everybody gets paid, everybody
1:01:18wins, every resource is in there and
1:01:20it's uh how I'm modeling my community.
1:01:22I'm not I'm not there yet, but that's
1:01:23like the vision is to be able to create
1:01:24a self-sustaining economy uh inside of
1:01:27the community so that people have all
1:01:28these resources and they're not just
1:01:30they're not just being sold a dream and
1:01:32with some guy that's just trying to make
1:01:34a couple bucks on them like Yeah. And
1:01:35that's something that I love about you.
1:01:36And I'm not trying to just like juice
1:01:37you up right now, but out of all the
1:01:39gurus and the people online, like Brian
1:01:41is is the real deal. And he really cares
1:01:42about people and he's also a freaking
1:01:44[ __ ] But he's a well-dressed
1:01:45[ __ ]
1:01:46>> How am I an [ __ ]
1:01:47>> No, I just think you're what you're you
1:01:50opinionated. You know, you're
1:01:51opinionated.
1:01:51>> I'm opinionated. Yeah, I'm opinionated,
1:01:53but I have strong beliefs loosely held.
1:01:55>> That's right. I think most people should
1:01:57adopt that idea where it's like, hey,
1:01:59look, like I think about things a
1:02:01certain way, but if you present me with
1:02:03new information, I will change my mind
1:02:06and I will quickly pivot my strongly
1:02:08held beliefs to this new reality because
1:02:11look, like you need the data. You need
1:02:13you need the data to be able to make an
1:02:15informed decision, right? And uh to your
1:02:17point of what you just said, the number
1:02:19one skill set that people if they
1:02:21focused on this one skill set, which
1:02:23they can do in their corporate job
1:02:24today, is the one unlock to everything
1:02:27else. They're so focused on how do I
1:02:29become the best investor to build
1:02:30passive income, right? You need to
1:02:32become a leader. Y
1:02:34>> as soon as you learn the skill of
1:02:36leadership,
1:02:38passivity will all of a sudden
1:02:40materialize in your life because people
1:02:43don't people don't realize of the
1:02:45passive real estate and everything. You
1:02:47know why it's passive? It's because
1:02:48other people are running managing it and
1:02:50running into the problems. They're doing
1:02:52it for you. Your multif family is
1:02:54passive because you have property
1:02:55managers and you have freaking on-site
1:02:57showing specialists and and you have
1:02:59freaking uh uh uh tech stack running the
1:03:03back end of it and you have like
1:03:04freaking the like the rentium and all
1:03:07the different you know softwares that
1:03:09are doing it with entire team of support
1:03:11staff. It's all people.
1:03:12>> Yeah. When I look at my goals list
1:03:15>> Yeah.
1:03:16>> and we're under contract on a groundup
1:03:17development hotel and there's a bunch of
1:03:19other stuff on there. Every single thing
1:03:20that I look at on there is dependent on
1:03:22me elevating my ability to be a better
1:03:24leader and enrolling people into my
1:03:27vision so that they will want to work on
1:03:29and partner on these projects so that it
1:03:31can all get done.
1:03:33>> But it's not me going and building this
1:03:34hotel on my own. I'm not the architect.
1:03:36I'm not the designer. I'm the visionary.
1:03:38I want to be involved in certain things
1:03:40that are my what light me up and are my
1:03:41superpower. But no longer can anything I
1:03:44do involve me actually doing. It needs
1:03:48to be me being the leader, changing my
1:03:51state into this elevated leader role to
1:03:54actually go accomplish things. And then
1:03:55what that does is that gives other
1:03:57people the ability to enroll in my
1:03:59vision, be a part of it, they can
1:04:00elevate their standard, they can be a
1:04:02part of the big vision, they get more
1:04:03excitement, they get more fulfilled,
1:04:04they get paid. That's what leadership
1:04:07and building businesses does
1:04:10>> is it brings more people into your world
1:04:12and your vision to make it a better
1:04:14place in whatever vision you have. It
1:04:17gives them access to more money, more
1:04:19people, more this to connect with people
1:04:22and create more value in the world.
1:04:24>> Yeah. Well, you cannot have control and
1:04:26freedom simultaneously.
1:04:28Cannot have control and freedom at the
1:04:30same time. So for people to go back to
1:04:32money, right? So if you're holding like
1:04:34a closed fist can't receive. So if
1:04:36you're holding on to your money like
1:04:38this and you're just like shaken with
1:04:40how tight you're holding on to it. So
1:04:41you're not you're not giving. If you're
1:04:43not giving, you're not living, dude.
1:04:45secret to living is given. And so if
1:04:47you're so tight with your money that
1:04:48you're not letting any of it flow even
1:04:50for yourself, right? Then how are you
1:04:52gonna receive? Because this is how you
1:04:53receive right here. Your hands are open.
1:04:55>> If you're like this, like how how's the
1:04:57universe? How's God? How's your employer
1:04:59going to give you anything more?
1:05:00>> I will tell you cuz I grew up in a
1:05:01household where like a penny saved is
1:05:04worth more than
1:05:05>> Oh, I did too.
1:05:06>> Yeah. Like you work your ass off to save
1:05:09money.
1:05:09>> Yeah.
1:05:10>> You drive across town to go get gas,
1:05:12right? Right. You're wasting more gas
1:05:13than you're than you're going to save on
1:05:15money, right?
1:05:16>> Y
1:05:16>> and so in the last two years, I have
1:05:20released my fears and my mindset around
1:05:22my like the the amount of tips, the the
1:05:25how much I tip, like I am like letting
1:05:28my money go and I'm like actively
1:05:29working on reducing those rackets of
1:05:31like this is not worth it. I will tell
1:05:33you, I've spent about $200,000 on
1:05:35coaching, mentorship programs, and it is
1:05:37being returned to me in droves, right?
1:05:39because I am trusting that energy is
1:05:41money and it's going to flow back to me.
1:05:43>> Yeah, man. It's funny and that's been
1:05:45true for me over and over and over again
1:05:47is when I just like let go. Um the the
1:05:50the way that you can visualize this
1:05:53that's served me more than just about
1:05:55anything in life is I used to think that
1:05:57um life is like this cup where uh it
1:06:00like you need to have your cup full. I
1:06:01mean, we've all heard that. It's like
1:06:02make sure your cup is full before you
1:06:03pour into others. And then I had a a guy
1:06:06one time say me, he's like, "Well, ju
1:06:07dude, just cut the bottom off the cup."
1:06:09And whatever flows to you flows through
1:06:12you.
1:06:12>> That's right.
1:06:13>> And then it infinitely goes into other
1:06:15people. So now it's like, dude, I'm
1:06:17divinely led. I'm freaking blessed. I'm
1:06:19I'm here for a purpose and I'm here for
1:06:21a mission, man. And like God put me on
1:06:23this earth to to help and serve others.
1:06:25And like so I'm divinely led here, dude.
1:06:28And so for me, every time he gives me a
1:06:30blessing, that blessing gets multiplied
1:06:32into hundreds and thousands of people.
1:06:35And so I've made that my reality. It
1:06:37didn't used to be that, but it is today.
1:06:39Which is why I move how I move. It's how
1:06:40I speak how I speak. Because like this
1:06:42is why I'm here on this earth is to is
1:06:44to create impact and to let everything
1:06:46that flows to me flow through me. And
1:06:49every single time that I've done this,
1:06:50man, it is just like every single thing
1:06:53happens when it's supposed to happen.
1:06:55And so one of my favorite quotes is
1:06:57God's delays are not God's denials.
1:07:00And that was been it's been a toughy for
1:07:01me over the last three years because
1:07:03I've been single looking for a freaking
1:07:05relationship and I couldn't freaking
1:07:06find her. I was like where where and
1:07:08when is this going to happen? And then
1:07:10it finally happened and I was just like
1:07:13got it. Oh, this is easy. Like this
1:07:17feels natural. This feels right. Like
1:07:19it's weird
1:07:20>> because you became the person that was
1:07:22ready to receive.
1:07:23>> Yeah.
1:07:24>> You opened the hands
1:07:25>> that that green light that green light
1:07:26turned on and I was like, "Okay, cool."
1:07:30Um, so a lot of people are are just like
1:07:32kicking and screaming. And this is
1:07:34actually something that I recommend is
1:07:36again being rich is not going to make
1:07:38you happy, but it'll give you enough of
1:07:40what's called margin, so free time to
1:07:42start exploring and like taking walks in
1:07:44the woods and actually asking good
1:07:46questions. Um, and one of the questions
1:07:48I asked was why why since I'm free, am I
1:07:50so stressed out, pissed off, and
1:07:52miserable? So, you know, it's Noval,
1:07:55Robocott has a quote where it's like, if
1:07:56you're so smart, why are you miserable?
1:07:59>> He's like, if you if you are rich and
1:08:01smart and miserable, that's the ultimate
1:08:02failure as a human, right? And so, a
1:08:06book that I recommend is the surrender
1:08:08experiment by Michael Singer. And so,
1:08:10the premise of the book is essentially
1:08:12that you go and you just surrender to
1:08:15the universe. You act and you stay in
1:08:17motion. You stay in movement. You don't
1:08:18sit and wait for things to happen, but
1:08:20you kind of forest gump it. You know,
1:08:22you just kind of go out there and you
1:08:23experience life. And you have no set
1:08:26expectations of what should happen
1:08:29because unhappiness comes from having an
1:08:31expectation that's here and reality
1:08:32being here. So the bigger of a
1:08:34discrepancy between an expectation of
1:08:36reality is the larger amount of
1:08:38unhappiness that you experience. And so
1:08:41if you just realize that your
1:08:42expectations just were pulled out of
1:08:44thin air and that reality is reality
1:08:47regardless, it's you can either get in
1:08:50the car in the direction that reality is
1:08:52driving or you can choose to be like
1:08:53dragged along in the gravel holding on
1:08:56to the door handle outside. Same
1:08:58reality, different way of flowing with
1:09:00it. And so for three years, man, I was
1:09:02just in the gravel, you know? I was
1:09:04like, I want a relationship. Why am I
1:09:06not getting a relationship?
1:09:08Dude, I didn't have capacity.
1:09:11>> I was freaking giving everything to my
1:09:13business. I didn't have time to go
1:09:16nurture a freaking loving relationship.
1:09:18You know what the craziest thing is? Is
1:09:20my girlfriend now that um she's been
1:09:22single for three years, too.
1:09:23>> Wow.
1:09:25>> Yeah. Wow.
1:09:25>> Same thing. And she reached a day where
1:09:28she was like, I guess I'm just going to
1:09:29be the fun aunt.
1:09:31>> You know, cuz she was working in her
1:09:32career. She was working on her. She just
1:09:33couldn't find anyone that lived up. And
1:09:35>> which is wild because she's, you know,
1:09:38insanely attractive, right? And and I
1:09:40say that with, you know, all respect
1:09:41cuz, you know,
1:09:42>> how dare you.
1:09:42>> I know, right? But that's
1:09:44>> I was like, "Baby, you be as hot as you
1:09:46want to be. I can fight."
1:09:47>> Exactly. Yeah. But she's insanely
1:09:49attractive. She's very successful and
1:09:51she's like, from what I've seen, like
1:09:52one of the most loving, giving people.
1:09:54>> She's wonderful man.
1:09:55>> Yeah. So, for her to be single for that
1:09:56long and is like it's a divine it's a
1:09:58divine timing thing, right?
1:09:59>> Crazy. Yeah. I mean, she said the same
1:10:01about me like I've been the perpetual
1:10:03bachelor, right? But it's kind of been
1:10:05funny because the joke that I've made is
1:10:06I may have been the only like eligible
1:10:08bachelor in Austin, Texas that had some
1:10:11financial security and actually wanted
1:10:12to have a wife and kids.
1:10:14>> Yeah.
1:10:14>> Everyone wants to be what do they call
1:10:15it? Peter Pan syndrome where they're
1:10:17they're 30, 40, they still haven't
1:10:19figured out what they want and what
1:10:20they're looking for. Dude, I wrote out
1:10:22every single thing that I wanted her to
1:10:23be. Like I wrote down like this is my
1:10:26dream partner and these are the
1:10:27characteristics that she possesses and
1:10:29she possesses them to a scary degree.
1:10:33This is something that people don't do
1:10:34enough or don't believe in enough is
1:10:36manifestation. But not just
1:10:39>> everything,
1:10:39>> but not just throwing it up and saying,
1:10:41"Oh, I need this. I want this." It's
1:10:43like actively writing it down in such
1:10:46specific terms and revisiting it every
1:10:49single day or every single week and
1:10:51speaking it out loud and telling people.
1:10:53How much has manifestation like been a
1:10:56part of your your life? There's three
1:10:58parts of manifestation and people don't
1:11:01do twothirds of it which is why it
1:11:03doesn't happen for them. So part number
1:11:05one is identification. So it's like okay
1:11:07cool like what do I want right and then
1:11:11the number one is so identification. The
1:11:13second part is identity in yourself like
1:11:16who do you need to become to get it?
1:11:18Number three is location. So where do
1:11:20you need to be to get it? So who do you
1:11:22need to be and where do you need to be
1:11:23to get this? And so, you know, in the
1:11:26context of business, I was like, well, I
1:11:28want to be happy, healthy, wealthy. I
1:11:30want to be fit. You know, I want to be
1:11:32moving. I want to be in great shape. And
1:11:34then also, you know, great with media
1:11:36and building a great business. I was
1:11:38like, I'm moving out of Atlanta. I'm
1:11:39moving to Austin, right? So, I moved to
1:11:42where I wanted to be and I became who I
1:11:44wanted to be in order to manifest this
1:11:46new reality for me. Um, same thing with
1:11:49finance. I'm like, "Okay, what rooms do
1:11:51I need to be uh to and who do I need to
1:11:54be to become an eight figureure business
1:11:56owner?" I call it eight figure Brian.
1:11:59Same thing with the relationship. I
1:12:00said, "Okay, cool. Here's who I want to
1:12:02date. Here's who I want to marry. Who do
1:12:04I need to be uh to attract that person,
1:12:07which is something that people
1:12:09conveniently forget. Um, I'm sorry, my
1:12:12brothers and kings. Uh, if you're
1:12:14overweight and balding, you're not going
1:12:15to go get you a Venezuelan supermodel.
1:12:19it's just not going to happen. You need
1:12:21to work on you physically, mentally,
1:12:23emotionally, spiritually, in every
1:12:25single capacity to become the type of
1:12:26person. And then I did this crazy stupid
1:12:28thing which is I asked where does my
1:12:30dream partner hang out, right? And then
1:12:33you're like, okay, well, where would she
1:12:34hang out? Like why don't I go ahead and
1:12:36start doing those habits and doing those
1:12:39things independent so that maybe we can
1:12:42run into each other doing those same
1:12:43things. And for me it was like a lot of
1:12:45traveling and for me it was learning
1:12:46Spanish. She's like, "So, I started
1:12:48learning Spanish and lived in Mexico. I
1:12:50lived in Colombia. I started traveling
1:12:52around and I've made the joke on podcast
1:12:54over and over again. Like, my wife's
1:12:55probably Latina and she probably speaks
1:12:57Spanish." And so, I became really like I
1:12:59was in the culture. I lived in the
1:13:01culture. I understand the culture. And
1:13:03so, then all of a sudden, I find one.
1:13:05She's like speaking Spanish to me. I'm
1:13:07like, "Yeah, I Hey." I'm like, "Whoa,
1:13:08you can't say that? Like, you gonna say
1:13:10that to me?" She's like, "Wait, you
1:13:11understand that?" I like, "Yeah." And it
1:13:13was cool, man. And so you have to you
1:13:15can't get ready. You got to stay ready
1:13:17for all of it. You got to put yourself
1:13:18in position. But again is man if if you
1:13:22believe in God and the universe and and
1:13:24God in the universe is going to give
1:13:25their blessings to like 1% of the
1:13:27population. It's going to be to the 1%
1:13:29that are turning on the green light.
1:13:30They've got their hands open. They're
1:13:31say, "Hey, this is what I want. Can I
1:13:33have it, please?"
1:13:34>> And then they do what you're doing today
1:13:35and you're sending the elevator back
1:13:36down
1:13:37>> and you're helping people that need it.
1:13:38And I think that's that's why you're
1:13:40here. That's why I'm here with you.
1:13:42That's why you're here sharing the
1:13:42story. Yeah. and getting everything that
1:13:44you've ever deserved is because adding
1:13:46val massive value into this world,
1:13:47helping people create massive income for
1:13:49themselves and sharing it. And uh I just
1:13:51appreciate you being here today, Brian.
1:13:53This has been freaking epic. Uh first
1:13:55guest to ever be returned on the
1:13:57podcast. Uh and it could have been more
1:13:59fitting. So uh appreciate you. And as
1:14:01always, everybody, appreciate you. Love
1:14:02you. Peace. Like and subscribe.
